The development has been delayed by the fact that all of us have been quite busy with their lives etc and haven't had that much time to commit to the project. In the future we will try to make new releases bit more often :). To tease you, here's a brief list of changes since 0.3.1 (0.4.0pre was so unstable that it doesn't count ;)). We hope to get 0.4.0 out this weekend (and will do so unless major problems occur, which is unlikely). * Major code cleanup and restructuring. There's still much work to do on this area, but it's getting better. The client should be quite stable now. We are scheduling more cleanup for next version. * New landscape. Landscape code has been totally rewritten since 0.3.1 and the texture (currenly just a simple shading) is now dynamically generated on the fly resulting in a unique texture for each terrain block (well, it doesn't look that unique yet but the code is there :)). It's also considerably faster, I get 55-100 fps in Windows on my Celeron500 w/ TNT and there's still much room for improvement. * The sky model was introduced in 0.3.1, but it has gone through some minor modifications codewise (performance issues and code cleanup). Also, the sun is now circling the world of Majik. However, lighting conditions don't affect landscape yet. * New python-based server is now in quite stable condition; we haven't managed to crash it for a while. * New player model by a new member of the team, Kaput. * Smoother movement. Camera now follows the player smoothly. However, there are still some 'warps' in other players' movement. First person mode also works nicely when using both mouse and keyboard. ++ dazzt --- Jari Saukkonen + jari.saukkonen@cs.helsinki.fi | Coral programming, music, keyboards, web, demos, b5 | Nah-kolor dazzt @ Majik3D RPG https://majik3d-legacy.org | Majik
