-- Some ideas concerning our project --
The main point of this LPMUD project is to create something else than an ordinary MUD system, where players merely kill monsters, gain experience and advance levels, which gets quickly really boring, especially since all MUDs are based on this same idea.We have a vision of building a working roleplaying atmosphere, not just plain monster killing. Read the brief list below about our ideas, which we either have already implemented or are working on.
- Mortals run the game. They don't have rules. They will make their own rules if necessary.
- No levels/experience points == no fun? Untrue. We have plans of making an interesting, realistic and yet playable game without levels or experience points.
- Versatile two-dimensional alignment system with a total of 36 descriptions for each alignment.
- Realistic tactical maneuver and limb-based combat system, which allows monsters or players to chop your ears off.
- Real star-system. All skyly bodies have their own position and orbit on a three-dimensional starscape. They affect the weather conditions, magic and they also control whether it is day or night. Mortals can see a "graphical" display of the star-syste ms by using the 'weather'-command.
- Real economy system, fully controllable by mortals. Money has a great meaning in the game.
- Many different magic types, meaning that we have several different magic systems. To cast a spell, you usually need to do more than just 'cast' it. Playing a magic user in Majik is the most difficult path in the beginning, but experience magicians are unbeatable by ordinary means.
- God system. All races, guilds and alignments will have their own deity. The gods are not just simple pieces of code. They are the coders, the creators of the world. They can't do just anything to mortals off the top of their heads, since we have a divine-point system, which means that immortals need mortal aid to get more divine points to affect the mortals' lives. See example in the Book of Creation of how we dramatize our godly deeds to mortal eyes.
- Strictly medieval fantasy theme. All areas will be based on our own theme, so there will be no areas such as 'moomin valley' or 'smurf village'. Of course, all areas will be 100% unique so you will not see any areas copied from some old story, book or another game.
- Farmers guild. You can grow potatoes, tomatoes, tobacco and almost everything you can imagine planting in real life. Farmers will earn much money by selling the food they produce. Be careful about crop diseases!
