theories on why designers disappear

The prevelent Theory of why designers dissaper is that they go when you put a pair of socks in the dryer and only one of the pair comes out. I feel that that the disapearence is more sinister then this. At the moment only a few mmorpg exist and those that do exist are uninspired crap. And nearly all of those are closed source so that ppl cannot modify them and make them better. There are plenty of unfinished projects out there for mmorpgs but none of any quality get finished. I think the designers who "disapeer are being removed from the projects who are of talent by the powers that be. The reason for their removal (here is the kicker) is that they would create such insperational work that these projects would be quickly finished but if these projects get done then people would soon realize that the world we live in is in fact a mmorpg in itself and would quickly allow us to "hack" our way out and escape the higher powers strangle hold on us.
