I thought we should start a general nemen subject so we can discuss issues that might come up with its design. Anyway i wrote a plant desc for the island. Its in the world book and is called "Fitho Reed". Anyway please comment here on what you think of it what it needs and any edits you want to suggest.

I would imagine that Nemen is old. Old because mountain ranges would be easier to climb since they wouldn't be that steep, and we want players to be able to do that. Also, Nemen is fairly far away from the newest mountain ranges in Majik, those that were created when the flying rooms crashed.

Anyone have any idea what Rakel is doing for nemen? It would be nice to know so we arn't designing the same things.

Beregar: that the concept of map changing was turned down (do a Google search on "machiavelli" + "lukewarm defenders") doesn't mean that we dislike all your ideas. Stop being paranoid. We dislike everybody's ideas evenly and without discrimination.

"It is a bit short" Yes it is a bit short. It is in tune with yorka's new design direction to make small descs of standard things that can be "cut and pasted" into regions. Also it has not been fully fleshed out and am hopeing for suggetions on what types of information should be added to it to make it usable by the developers. "you seem to dislike all my ideas (and probably me too)" No i don't dislike you or your ideas. I have issues with your managment style and your lack of being informed as to what is in the world book. A lead designer, I think, should lead by example. I find your descriptions to be some of the best made. Although they might need some corrections in grammer this is a minor problem (one i'm sure my descs share) when compared to their coherence, scope and imagination you have placed in them. I want more and enjoy reading them. but this goes to the heart of the problem. I do not know how the templates should be used and it would be great if you made one to use as an example. I will try to use/invent one for "Fitho Reed". But if I had a good standard example to work by it would be much appreciated. I used your "Brahjians" description as an example for when i wrote althainians desc. Such examples are invaluable to me and im sure other designers.

besides some spelling errors, it looks good! sorry i didnt get around to working on nemen, i might make a new animal tonight though.. also, a seperate description for all of the regions would probably be helpful later on, maybe links with "nemen mountains" "nemen jungle" etc on them. i was thinking more of a reference list than actual descriptions though.. example: jungle- flora list fauna list climate etc etc.. just to aid whoever actually ends up compiling nemen with concrete lists of statistics.

It is a bit short... I hope we could work together to create some sort of template for plants and such but as you seem to dislike all my ideas (and probably me too) I doubt it would work, but I'm willing to give it a try if you do...

Just a though: I could add a subgroup to the wildlife so modellers and others know which animals and plants are going to be in the initial 'Nemen'.
