Minimodels

I know I'm new and thusly don't carry much authority when it comes to ideas but I can't resist contributing one when it comes to me. Sorry :-)

I was thinking about the concept of a mini-model being the focus of the inventory interface and I thought why even bother with that? Why not let the player hold down the right mouse button(Any key will do of course) which allows him to pick stuff directly off or put stuff directly on his character. An added function could be that while in this 'inventory mode' moving the mouse to the edge of the screen would cause the camera to pan around the character in order to allow the player easy access to any part of his body.

As for rings and other things that may be hard to distinguish in game, a list could drop down when a player clicks the model showing all the thigs worn on that particular body part.

Double clicking on containers could open them. Comments?

But it does work that way. You pick something up with the mouse and drag it either to the graphical doodad representing your body locations, or to another graphical doodad representing a container (eg. a bag). These are visualized with minimodels. I admit my memory is somewhat hazy on the design, though.

Yes but I was suggesting to do away with the graphical doodad representing your body locations and instead use the player's avatar instead.
