What did I do wrong..? I press that 'create new' link and it takes me to a page where I can create a new account. I filled all of those "slots" and it says 'Ok account created. Go here to log in.' Then I hit 'login' and type my username and password in and click 'Submit Query', and I'm still a guest...

go to the directory on your computer that contains cookies,
C:\\WINNT\\Temporary Internet Files\\Content.IE5 for Win2000.
And remove all files, then try again and it should work.
