This is really for sweetshop:
There are a couple biological problems I see with the Miran Vine.
The poisons that you described, I broke them down into two separate enzymes in my alchemy page. In plant physiology the sap circulates so if the poisons are deactivated in the leaves then eventually all the poisons of the plant would be deactivated. The only exception I see to this is:
The enzymes that are poisonous and hallucinogenic are in fact a nutrient enzyme that is produced by the roots and is used by the leaves in there metabolic processes. The sun doesn’t deactivate it in the leaves but instead it is consumed by the leaves. The leaves and the rest of the plant will have to be UV protected (since I propose that its UV light that disables the enzymes.) To do this the cell walls will contain a UV filtering pigment, I’ve colored it black, but it could be a different color in the leaves. This pigment can be used for things like paint, dye, ink, etc..
This has a couple biological problems, one being that enzymes usually are not consumed they are reusable, but it’s not that big of a problem.
Also this look a like vine Arinia Vine needs to be near physically identical, with only MINOR differences. I propose that it’s a look alike evolutionary product. It just so happened to evolve to look similar to the Miran Vine and thus it became protected from animals eating it because they thought it was the poisonous vine.
I think that’s it. :)
