Hmm, namhas, when there will be the Characters total and Characters average lists?
I just heard that I have written so many short messages so I want to know is this true.. :)

Ohh and you should mark messages that you post read, because you posted it you already know what it says.

Some indication (either by coloring) of the thread topic in the main screen if there are unread messages in that thread would be usefull.

We might need a 'show message list for this thread' link beside 'thread list' link.. or what you think?

Phew.. the message arrange system is not working as it should.. I have problems finding the messages I just wrote :) I think we need change, and not only that, but a quick one.

Oh my! We need a system that shows is there is unread messages in some thread in thread list. Away for 2 days and 30+ messages to read and answer. And when you read one and post to that thread it hops on top. Then you have to read it to mark your own message unread.. Sigh I'm not whining :) but as you can see this is turning out to be a relatively common and practical place for discussion, so let's make it to be a working one too, shall we?
Obviously if you have time for this now namhas.. :)

The forum threads are getting quite in large amounts, it might be good to maybe have a feature to only show threads that have had posts for like the past 30 days. And mask the others, with an option to "show all threads" incase someone wants to read things that are a month dead. :P

You can no longer use <BR>, <P> or <PRE>
tags in your messages. Now <BR> tags are added
automatically. Your messages are wrapped in the place where
you hit enter like this paragraph. To change paragraph just
hit enter two times. If you want HTML to format your
messages then
Do like in this chapter. Just write a long line without hitting enter in the between and it will be wrapped according to the width of user's browser. It is a question which way would be the best. Reading long lines isn't fun, but having each user to wrap their messages by themselves is not fun either.

I'm not happy with the search button. I wanted to contribute a small remark to a conversation about cooking skill, so I type cooking. I get the results and it looks nice, but then comes the problem of answering... no way for replying. Id tag didn't help me to find the post so I'm back to suffling through the topics, hoping to locate the thread... so, as I said, I'm unhappy with the search function. Either I don't know how to use it properly or then it doesn't work as conveniently as it should.

No longer it is possible to post duplicate messages accidentially. Also, now we have admin frontend for this system and thus removing or modifying messages afterwards is possible (for admins).

How about making real "threads" (not POSIX), where you could reply to specific message, not to a thread, thus creating a kind of a tree, you know. That way there would be only one (first message) or two messages (replies, where the original message is at top and reply after it) and then a list of replies to the reply or original message. Then it would be also possible to record view counts for each message and it would be possible to skip some reply-threads if you're not interested and stick only to the main thread.
This, however, could complicate things as you would have to actually click to read a next message in thread, but at the same time it would then remember what messages you have read (by using HTML vlink mechanism). And also, at some time you might not want to reply to the main thread directly but to some specific message only. Also, if the original message is always shown before the reply message then no quoting will be necessary - thus the system would be a bit better than USENET news system.
Shall I code this or not? :) It would require me a hour or two, perhaps less. It's quite simple after all.

How about putting most recent posts at the top? Threads can become quite long, with a lot of scrolling each time you look for new posts.

I discarded a-BBS like idea of having unread/total view for threads. Now we can see easily whether we have unread messages or not in a thread by relying on browser's visited link mechanism. It is colored in a different color if we have or have not new messages on the thread that we haven't yet read. If wanting to mark thread readed then just visit it.

beregar is right the message box needs to be bigger or something. Also i just put a blank new message without a subject. we shouldn't be able to do that. Also it would be nice if we didn't have to type the subject we just reply to messages. By the way i love this thing

We need the ability to move posts to new threads and all of there child posts under them, because some threads go off topic and the parts that are off topic would be better in a new thread.

Now forums are using authorID instead of authorName, so you are no longer required to enter your name when posting messages after you have logged in. Also, as we're using IDs you could change your name to whatever you want in future very easily and all your messages would be updated to use that.

I favor the flat mode button idea. But if it is already here and I just don't see it, where is it?
p.s. I was looking at the scores and it seems namhas doesn't have the highest amount of messages, what is the world coming to?

I think that messages that you haven't read already should have an icon beside them so you know which ones to read without clicking on them. That would be quite usefull and waste less time (at least for me) so when i go onto a thread with 15 messages and someone just posted a new one to it, i don't have to guess which one was the new one.

Very true, I have thought same. And it would be useful to see the type of the thread on the thread list as well.
And one thing more.. If the system would mark the messages written by eg. me to be read for me, so one doesn't have to click the messages he just writed.

It's not yet. I'll code it in very near future. Flat mode sucks in a way that if you use it, you will skip benefits of unread/read message marking system as you could read dozen of messages at same time while not actually reading all of them.

There's already system for it. All devs can do it, but I
will make it so that all with moderator status could do
it aswell.

Works here, and it's much better than the previous system.
